The Wedding

So as I mentioned in the weekend update, we spent Saturday evening at Josh and Kelly's wedding! They are currently on their honeymoon, but their wedding was so awesome that I wanted to dedicate an entire post to it.

Eric and I actually met them through this blog. We exchanged a few comments, found out we lived nearby, and finally met. And then realized we are pretty much the exact same people. It was almost weird going to their apartment...we have the same rice cooker, same knives, same ice cube trays, etc. I think it was meant to be.

The wedding was held in the Old City section of Philadelphia, not too far from our apartment.

The ceremony, which was short and sweet, was held downstairs.

And then the party got started upstairs with the cocktail hour.
Josh and Kelly put a lot of thought into all the drinks served at their wedding, which was awesome.

Not to mention a lot of thought into the details.

They were being swarmed by people congratulating them, but Eric and I were finally able to say hi.

And then it was time for dinner! Their entire wedding was vegetarian, and if that wasn't enough, they changed a few things up for us to make our meals vegan. Totally unnecessary, but much appreciated.

We started with a balsamic watermelon salad, which I kind of want to eat everyday during the summer.

And our entree was an eggplant napoleon.

This is the eggplant dish I tried to recreate with my dehydrator...unsuccessfully.

And I should mention that they got me and Eric vegan champagne. Again, TOTALLY unnecessary, but much appreciated.

Some people partied too hard during dinner.

We went back downstairs for more drinks and dancing. They made these cool cards with the drink recipes. We took one for each drink...where we supposed to take them? I'm not sure, but now I will be making fancy drinks!

Then it was cake time!

And Josh and Kelly are sooooo amazing, that they even had a vegan cake. You bet I ate that cake so fast. It was delicious.

And then more dancing!

Their wedding was so much fun. Eric and I kept talking about how fast the night seemed to go, a sure sign that you are having a blast.
Josh and Kelly are so nice and I am so happy for both of them and happy that they are our friends!

It looks beautiful -- what crazy similarities! You and Eric together make me smile. I'm not sure why, I just like it. Alot.

I typically hate weddings, but the ones I've been to were NOT vegan-friendly. This wedding looks like a bad-ass party...with a very impressive drink list and a vegan cake!! I'm not really into the idea of marriage, but if I ever take the plunge, a vegan cake will be the number one motivating factor.

Oh, WOW! I love weddings, and my dad used to be a wedding videographer, so I went to well over 100 weddings as a kid. But I have never, to my knowledge, been to a veg wedding, which is just unbelievably cool. Veg food? Vegan cake?! Vegan champagne?! I'd be in heaven!! It looks like such a fun, classy, put-together event. I hope my wedding someday is half as awesome as that all sounds.

By the way, I've added you guys to my blogroll :]

Looks like a fun event with some great food! Vegan champagne. Cool! It's crazy, I didn't know until this year that some types of beer actually have animal hooves and who knows what other parts in them.

Haha thanks. usually people say Lauren and I make them frown :D

I know.. the drink menu had (V) for vegan drinks! Loved it, especially since I don't know as many alcohols.

Yeah there are some wild ingredients in just about everything. Also another reason we rarely drink champagne/wines.
