This week we were able to finally eat all the lettuce from our CSA! Were very happy to have met this challenge. The only thing we weren't able to finish in time was the endive. That stuff is burly in its raw state. I had plans of using it in a soup but didn't get around to it. Anyways onto this weeks goodies.
1 head broccoli – certified organic – Farmdale Organics
1 bunch red beets – certified organic – Farmdale Organics
1 head Napa cabbage – certified organic – Bellview Organics
1 pc summer ball squash – certified organic – Hillside Organics
1 bunch spring onions – certified organic – Healthy Harvest
1 head green butter head (bib) lettuce – certified organic – Goshen View Organics
1 head red leave lettuce – certified organic – Railroad Organics
1 bag cress – certified organic – Back 40 Ranch
So I dont have much experience/any with cres... Does anyone have any good ideas of what to do with it? I washed it tonight and we added it raw to our salads/wraps but its defiantly spicy and much more like horseradish than I was expecting. Do most use it raw or blended in dressings/dips/ect?

that little squash is too cute. :D
i've seen cress used in paninis... just slightly wilted. sundried tomatoes and caramelized onions are a good counter.
Beautiful vegetables!
I love sauteed cress... a little soy, vinegar, or lemon juice and oil goes a long way.
Thanks for the ideas!
Oh and one of these days I'm going to have Lauren post some of her eating habits and all the new things she's tried lately, but smooshed bread is a big no no :D
I am overrun by the scallions. I still have 3 bunches in my fridge. GA! We've been getting at least one in each batch and the first two weeks we got 2 bunches. It is interesting to me that this half share is almost as much as we got in a full share this time last year. The rain really killed us last year I guess.
Wow that's crazy! We had debated a full share, but after all this food I don't think we could eat through a full share.
Dave & I almost signed up for a CSA and I really wonder if we could have gotten through all of that food. Maybe so. It seems like a ton of lettuce, but we do love salads!
Have you seen the movie The Witches or read the book by Roald Dahl? If not, I know they eat watercress soup. I'm pretty sure it's pureed & creamy.
AHH I HATE THE WITCHES! It's actually one movie I can't watch and still scares me. It's one of my brother's favorite movies, but it scared me so much and I refuse to watch it again.
