Apartment for Rent.
Figured I'd throw this out there. If any one is looking/knows anyone looking for a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment in Northern Liberties let us know. The apartment above us is for rent and really nice (ie we wish we could move up there). It has fenced in parking, washer/dryer, fireplace, deck, plus you would live over us.. :) I can get you more information if need be.

our apartment!
finally, apartment pictures! but before you see them, a couple of things. first off, our apartment is still a mess, and not that organized. second off, we still need to hang all the art, but i think we are going to hang bikes along some walls, so we need to figure that out first.
so this is our backyard/parking spot. the empty spot is where we park, the other car is our upstairs neighbors. we still have a lot of yard space even with two cars back there. next summer eric and i are going to garden out here.

from the backyard, you walk up some stairs and our deck is on your left. imagine a table top on those table legs, because that is how it is supposed to look.

and then you walk through the door into our foyer! to the left is where our washer and dryer are. then there are two other doors on the left, one goes upstairs, to the neighbors, the other goes downstairs, to the restaurant.

and you walk straight into our kitchen/office!

that door is our front door.

from the kitchen you walk straight into the living room, the only room with a working fireplace.

the floors are really old in here. like 150 years old.

and from the living room you walk straight into the bedroom.

so it's still a work in progress, but it's coming along!

apartment decorating
eric and i have a fairly large closest, but we only have one closest. and it doesn't have a lot of hanging space. and i have a lot of clothes.
we went to ikea last week to look at different options for more storage for our hanging clothes, specifically our jackets and hoodies since they are bulky. and we found a wardrobe that we both liked.
eric assembled it last night. and for the record, i tried to help, but he sent me away.
taking it out of the box

almost finished putting it together

i was able to put all of our jackets and hoodies inside. grissom approves!

doors closed

and in other decorating news, i am starting to wonder what's the point of having a rug?

because without fail, this is what it looks like ALL the time. even if i lay it out, within a minute, this is happening.

we have an apartment
yay! we signed our lease last night. we move into our apartment next week. i am so excited, not that hanging out at the residence inn isn't awesome.

this is the front of our apartment, we're on the second floor.

there are a lot of really good restaurants in the neighborhood. we've been frequenting el camino real for half-price margaritas!

and i am still bored at the hotel. today i decided to braid my hair for braid wednesday. yes, i really am that exciting.

but tomorrow i am going to nyc for the day! it's crazy to think that i am go there any time i want.

hanging out
i'd hate to jinx it since it's not official yet (we still need to actually sign the lease), but we got the apartment! i am so excited that we finally found the perfect place.
until we move in, though, we are staying at a hotel. definitely pros & cons. pros: we were able to go grocery shopping, we were able to finally unpack our bags, & it has a gym! i've missed working out regularly. the only con is the hotel is out of the city & eric is using my car, which means i am stuck at the hotel all day.
i thought i would like being unemployed & hanging out, but when you are stranded in a hotel, it actually sucks, & i wish i was working. i'm sure once we move into the apartment i'll be fine & once i have a job i'll miss doing nothing, but right now i am bored!
we've really just been hanging out with friend's, eating amazing food & complaining about the rain.
i know that when i need gas, the only place i will go is rock n' roll exxon.
right down the street you can buy live poultry and have instant slaughter! (eww)
i've been missing my cats like crazy, but these kitties have kept me happy until kitta & grissom arrive.

and i'm loving the bike lanes. & the flat streets. we haven't been able to ride as much as we'd like because of the rain, but i'm still excited to be in a bike-friendly city!

apartment hunting
wow, we've been really busy since we got here. we spent all day sunday looking at apartments, only to find more that we didn't like. it's a little discouraging when you keep looking at apartments that seriously aren't even livable.
but monday, the first apartment we looked at, we both loved! we are currently waiting to find out if we got it. it ended up having everything we wanted, parking, a garden, a deck, a large kitchen, new appliances.
hopefully we find out soon, because this is our current living situation.

it's awesome, and really nice, that eric's friends are letting us stay with them, but i really want my own place asap, and i also want all of my stuff!
