I did it! I finished the Broad Street Run!
My time wasn't what I was hoping for, but I am going to blame it on the heat...did you know it randomly got up to 90 degrees in Philly this weekend? Yep, hasn't been that hot in a while.
Eric and I woke up not too early on Sunday and I got ready.
Eric makes fun of my "running hat." I bought it a few weeks ago and love it! It keeps my bangs off my face and the sun out of my eyes.
The start was kind of far from our house, but you could ride the Broad Street line subway for free if you were running. Eric was kind enough to drive me the few blocks to the station.
I lucked out and the subway came just as I got underground. It was quite the sight to see all the cars filled up with runners.
I made it to the start and immediately made my way to the hellacious port-o-potty line. It took me almost an hour to use the bathroom. Ugh.
Made it to my corral right before the gun went off.
Eric was a great photographer!
Green man ran! You probably only get this if you watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Eric's cousin Emily ran it too.
You can't really see me, but I am in the purple.
In the purple again.
I saw Eric at mile 5.
I usually run with a water bottle and I worked out a great system of taking the lid off as I was approaching a water stop, dumping the cup of water in my water, and moving along. It worked out really well and I constantly had water.
Our friend Ro ran it too.
I saw a guy go down right before we crossed the finished line. It was actually pretty scary, but there was a lot of medical right there to help him.
I crossed the finish line and immediately left that area. It was so hot with so many sweaty bodies. I met up with Eric a few blocks away to stretch and have a snack.
All in all it was a great race. I just wish it hadn't been so hot!
