A Very, VERY Special Birthday

Like Eric mentioned last week, you should feel pretty special if you are ever honored on the blog.
Well today might be one of the most special birthdays we have had so far because...

It's my Mammaw's 91st BIRTHDAY!

Don't let her age fool you, she can still hang with the best of us.
I wish I was able to be with her today, but I can't wait to see her next month at family reunion.

MY SUPER SWEET SIXTEEN!
i have to give full credit to Juli for the awesome birthday party idea, but she was kind enough to let me join the party and celebrate my birthday with hers.
at the last minute we were able to hold our party at a bar in my neighborhood and we went all out!

we made corsages, boutonnieres, had tiaras, sashes, wore old prom/bridesmaid dresses, etc. it was amazing.








we were even late to our own party because we were taking too many photos.




once we got there we quickly decorated. of course there were cat and hello kitty decorations. what else would you expect?






then we started to party. rachele came down from nyc.














i'd say we had a pretty good sweet sixteen.

happy birthday to me!

my birthday was yesterday, but that didn't stop us from actually celebrating over the entire weekend! i have SO many photos, so i am going to break it up in to different parts and make a few posts over the next few days.
saturday eric and i woke up and slowly got ready for our adventure of the day! i really wanted to go to vegan treats to get some things for my birthday, and it's about an hour and a half away.
we stopped by the post office on our way out of philly and i picked up a package from my mom that contained birthday goodies.


after a stop at goodwill in allentown we made it to VEGAN TREATS!


it's slightly overwhelming. you mean i can eat ANY of these amazing looking desserts?! i ended up deciding on donuts, brownies and a sticky bun. but eric is a sneaky one and had actually pre-ordered me a german chocolate cake!! my favorite. it was really awesome of him!



we had to try the donut asap.




eric was sneaky once again and had already found a place for us to eat lunch.


thai food! i hadn't had any in so long.


we both ordered thai basil fried rice, super spicy!


then we drove back to philly to get ready for the party!

the usually weekend recap will have to wait because today is my mom's birthday! WOO 57!!! sorry mom, i had to put your age out there.
i do not even know where to get started on how amazing my mom is. it would probably take entries upon blog entries to explain and it still wouldn't do her justice.
we've had our ups and downs over the years but she really is the best mom. she is the most selfless person i know.

i think i truly realized how amazing she is the summer before i went away to college. i would think that would be the summer from hell in her eyes.
that summer my mom was preparing to go back to work for the first time in 16 or so years. i had just had foot surgery and couldn't walk or drive, and was also preparing to move away for college. chase was too young to drive, so kind of worthless in helping me get around. and then my dad ended up in the hospital for a few weeks because he had blood clots in his lungs.
so the entire summer my mom held it all together, driving all of us around. driving me to get things for college, driving chase and i to the hospital, all while preparing to start work again.
i think i would have lost it and checked myself into a psych ward.

i just hope one day when i have kids i can be half as great as she is!

and it's also my friend nick's birthday! i've known nick for almost 10 years now and he is still one of the coolest, most down to earth people i know.
